Why is President-Elect Obama selecting Senator Hillary Clinton for Secretary of the Department of State? Doesn't she have more power and a longer political career as a US Senator form New York? She safely has this senate seat as long as she wants it and can spend the rest of of her life as a US Senator.
What would motivate her to switch her "safe seat" and political career to a position where she serves at the pleasure of the President and can be fired at any time for any reason? Is she just tired of living in NY and of being in the senate? I do not think so. Hillary Clinton has her political sights on a higher office and sees the opportunity to create a bond with Obama for the near term. Yes, that means that she wants to be the future Presidential candidate for the Democrat Party. The strategy is that she will serve as Secretary of State for four years. Vice President Biden will only serve for four years and be given the boot. She will then run with President Obama in four years. Then after being Vice President for four years, she will then run for President in eight years. This is the plan. If President-Elect Obama has a good four years, then Hillary thinks that she will have the best chance to become President by being his Vice President. This combination in four years will be hard to beat if the Democrats do well over the next four years. However, this will be a real challenge due to the fact that Obama and the current Congress are very liberal and will try to implement their liberal agenda. Hillary Clinton is making a strategic move to become President in eight years. -
