Third-Wprld Politics in MA
August 29, 2009
Chuck Floyd
The people of Massachusetts should elect their next senator.  The Democrats changed their law to prevent a Republican Governor from appointing a person to the US Senate.  Now, they want to change the law back so that the Governor can appoint a person to the Senate.  Our American political process is supposed to be for the "people", not political friends.  I support the Washington Post in its below article that supports the current law of having the voters of Massachusetts in electing their next senator.  The Democrats must not turn Senator Kennedy's death into a third-world political effort.

IN 2004, FEARING that Republican Gov. Mitt Romney would appoint a fellow Republican to replace Sen. John F. Kerry should he become president, the Democratic-controlled Massachusetts legislature changed the law, mandating a special election. Now, fearing that the push for health-care reform could be weakened by the absence of a 60th Democratic senator, that same legislature wants to change the law again, allowing the governor -- now a Democrat -- to make a quick appointment. With all due respect to the wishes of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, this isn't how lawmaking is supposed to work. It smacks of political expediency and can only breed cynicism.

Our view is that voters ought to be able to choose their senators. The current Senate helps show why. Illinois's governor treated Barack Obama's seat as property to be sold to the highest bidder. Joe Biden's seat in Delaware has been handled like a family heirloom, Hillary Rodham Clinton's was given away in an opaque and unbecoming process. On Friday, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) named his former chief of staff to warm the seat for him, assuming that Mr. Crist will be elected to the seat next year. Throw in Colorado (whose Ken Salazar became interior secretary) and Texas (where Gov. Rick Perry is on deck to replace retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison) and you get 26.6 percent of Americans represented by a senator for whom no one voted. If Massachusetts is added to that roster, the proportion bumps up to 28.7 percent. This is undemocratic and shouldn't continue.

Under a Massachusetts law enacted in 2004, the special election to replace Mr. Kennedy must be held 145 to 160 days after declaration of the vacancy. Maybe that's too long -- though if you make the time too short, you give an unfair advantage to insiders with big money chests and name recognition. Now Gov. Deval L. Patrick (D) says he would sign legislation to give him the power to fill a vacancy with someone who vows not to run in the special election -- though such a promise not to run probably can't be legally mandated. This plan was proposed to Mr. Patrick by Mr. Kennedy in July and revealed last week.

Massachusetts state Rep. William Straus (D), who chaired the Joint Committee on Election Laws, which devised the 2004 law, has a better idea for the governor. "Stay out of it," Mr. Straus advises. "It's time for the governor to just pick election dates."

Let the people decide who will represent them, not the back-room politicians.

    Obama Targets the CIA
    August 26, 2009
    Chuck Floyd
The Obama administration is a direct threat to the CIA and the security of our nation.  His administration is trying to cut the authority of the CIA while protecting the rights of terrorists. Our nation is in serious trouble with the safety of our nation with this administration.  Other countries will not cooperate with our CIA if they think that they are at risk.  Also, why should the CIA capture terrorists if our justice system will not support them?  Does a CIA agent now just kill a captured terrorist?  We, the people, must stand up and change the direction of the Department of Justice and the excessive oversight by Congress of the CIA.

Below is an article from the Washington Times.

The Obama administration's war on the CIA continued in force this week. The result may be prosecution of CIA interrogators who work to uncover threats to national security. This witch hunt does not make America safer.

Ignoring strong objections from CIA Director Leon E. Panetta, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. appointed special prosecutor John H. Durham to examine the potential for criminal charges against CIA interrogators. The administration also declassified a 2004 report by the CIA's inspector general detailing interrogation techniques that may have crossed the line. A source in the intelligence community told us those CIA operatives who have not already retained counsel are lawyering up.

Sen. Christopher S. Bond, Missouri Republican, said Mr. Holder had pledged during the confirmation process not to pursue these cases. The attorney general defends his flip-flop, saying he has a duty to "examine the facts and follow the law." However, there is more than a hint of political grandstanding on display, particularly because the most severe allegations in the 2004 report already had been investigated by career Justice Department prosecutors during the George W. Bush administration. Operatives found to have committed violations were reprimanded, administratively punished or forced out.

The difference between now and then is that the Bush team pursued the matter in a low-key way that ensured accountability but did not embarrass the CIA. Mr. Holder's approach promises to publicly humiliate the agency and tarnish the Bush legacy, with no discernible benefit for national security. This is naked politics hiding behind the robe of justice.

We were reminded this week that the administration is only interested in openness that benefits its case. On Monday, Judicial Watch released two previously classified CIA documents showing the effectiveness of CIA interrogation techniques. The documents were obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request and after a personal appeal for their release by former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Obama administration refuses to discuss the product of interrogations and only focuses on the means by which information was received. This is because certain ends can justify certain means. The reports reveal a wealth of information on terrorist attack plans, techniques and strategies. We wonder why the vice president's office didn't produce unclassified versions for public dissemination four years ago.

The administration has banned the CIA from future interrogations and handed the process over to the FBI, which will act under the direct supervision of the White House, perhaps by a new "interrogation czar." There is no reason to believe that this reorganization of responsibilities will make the system more effective, but there are many reasons to believe it will make it less so. Any government program subject to such a rigorous degree of high-level scrutiny will mean those involved will take fewer risks and demonstrate less initiative and imagination. The intelligence community cannot move forward if everyone in it is watching his back.

We agree with Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican, who called the attorney general's moves a "declaration of war... against common sense." Mr. Holder's vendetta against the CIA undermines national security by taking seasoned professionals out of the fight in the war on terror.

      Remarks from Charles Krauthammer
      August 16, 2009
      Chuck Floyd

      Dr. Charles Krauthammer

      1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be
underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions. It's
very hard to know what's behind the mask. The taking down of the
Clinton dynasty by a political neophyte was an amazing accomplishment.
The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect
      place at the perfect time.

      2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton. He has a way
of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while
doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he
      DOES!

      3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to
make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including
dismantling capitalism. He can’t be straightforward on his ambitions, as the
public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the
playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of
society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada .

      4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and
NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the
auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The
cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for
FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program,
because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type
single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to
control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada . God
      forbid!

      5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one
around him has ever even run a candy store. But they are going to try and
run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can’t
work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left
secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a
moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not
      what he says.

      6. Obama doesn’t really see himself as President of the United States , but
more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to
orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees
moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and
England was a prime example of how he sees
America , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a
great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the
first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

      7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not
come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all
problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future.
He has a huge ego, and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

      8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong.
Republicans are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another
like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl
(except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the
party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere
and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and
info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to
the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility,
strong national defense, and state’s rights.

      9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are
spending trillions that we don’t have. This could lead to hyperinflation,
depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity.
The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their
agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the
huge bailouts didn’t work, nor will the stimulus package. These were
trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama’s allies, unions and the Congress to
placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

      10. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed, fear
and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding
on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the
mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won
this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

      11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept
back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's
between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the economy. I
hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington and
Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to
Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the
loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we’re right on most issues and
can reclaim our country, before it's far too late.

The above comments are a great observation for American citizens to consider.

        Robin Williams Peace Plan
        August 09, 2009
        Chuck Floyd
You gotta love Robin Williams........Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our President , the Congress, and the UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan....(Hard to argue with your logic)

'I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.'

        1) 'The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good 'ole' boys', we will never 'interfere' again.

        2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East , and the Philippines . They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

        3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

        4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers...

        5) No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back home baby.

        6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while

        7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil.. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

        8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

        9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

        10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH..learn it...or LEAVE....Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

'The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' '

This plan will save the US tax payer hundred of billions of dollars and will benefit our country.

          Letter to the White House
          August 08, 2009
          Chuck Floyd
I know that the White House is asking that we "tattle" and turn in people in opposition to the President's policies. Who sounds "fishy" in the whole government-runs-everything programs?  Who reaaly needs to be turned in---members of Congress for not reading the bills and voting on socialist programs?  The President for pushing his far-left radical agenda?  The media for not reporting the facts and promoting the president?

The below letter can be written by many Americans who fear for their Country and the true American way of life.

I am turning myself in. I oppose the radical government control policies supported by President Obama and the left-wing Democrats in Congress.

I opposed the stimulus done by President Bush, the stimulus signed by President Obama, the omnibus bill with all its pork projects, the cap and trade bill passed by the House, and the "cash for clunkers" bill.  I oppose closing Guantanamo.  I think President Obama and his wife both promote racism since it helps their political agenda.  I believe that President Obama is not an honest man and I do not trust him to make decisions that are best for America.  I believe that he hides any information that does not make him look good and he lacks experience and leadership qualities.

I believe the recession is far from over as companies continue to fire employees because they cannot afford to hire them.  I believe the national debt and deficit will continue to grow as tax collections continue to fall and the numbers of people depending on government bailouts continue to  grow.  I blame the Obama policies supported by the House and Senate for this sad state of affairs in our country.  I don't see anything positive happening as a result of these policies.  I believe the economy would be well on the way to recovery if Obama had not jumped in and promoted uncontrolled spending and the House and Senate supported him.

I believe that President Obama puts union leaders ahead of the average American citizen.  I believe he received huge political contributions from the unions and he is paying them back by supporting them. I believe the unions were responsible for the downfall of the auto industry.

I question that anyone in DC really understands that the decisions they are making are wrong for growth and are taking this country down the wrong path.  I see no signs of change in DC so I have no hope that things will turn around until we get change. I believe the voters elected President Obama because they actually believed that he would turn the economy around and create jobs and make life better for all Americans.  That hope and change  seems to not be working too well. I pray that we do not give his ideas more time to work.  It could be too late to recover for years and years!

And I think that the proposed health care bill that he says he will pass, is one of the worst things that could happen to this counry.  I believe that Americans will have to wait in lines, get on waiting lists for surgeries, be refused medications they need due to high costs,  and that the elderly will not get the care they currently receive but will be made comfortable as they live their final years and days, with pain pills.  As I age I certainly don't want a government counselor working with me to make my final years and months easier.  I think that should be a good doctor and my family and friends. If it costs too much to keep me alive, that should be my decision, not the Obama Administration.

I believe that President Obama puts trial lawyers ahead of the average American citizen.  I believe he received huge political contributions from them.  He is against Tort reform.  The huge medical settlements make it necessary for all doctors to carry large amounts of insurance in case they are sued.  I believe that raises our medical costs.  I believe there should be limits placed on medical payouts due to law suits.  Obama is against limits and sides with the trial lawyers. (John Edwards, former presidential candidate, is a very rich trial lawyer and earned huge sums of money based on medical lawsuits.  His NC home is one of the largest private homes in the state.)

I believe the government will have access to private information regarding the finances of every American and that the government will be able to tap into the finances of American citizens to pay for health care.  The government will also be able to use this information to tax American citizens.  I believe that the Obama Administration is the "big brother" that we have dreaded all our lives.

Today I heard President Obama advising his supporters to get in the faces of those who disagree with him.  I have heard people in the administration saying that the people attending town hall meetings and speaking in opposition to health care, are members of gangs and are dressed too well to be real.  I have heard that these people are being bused in to the meetings by organized groups. I just heard an ad that calls those attending town hall meetings "angry mobs" and " rabid right wing extremists".

When the govenment starts to criticize and make fun of protesters in town hall meetings, belittling them as thugs and gang members who are not acting on their own, that is a scary thing.  And when the president encourages people to get in the faces of protesters, that is scary.  What will be the next suggestion made by the president to control the protesters?  And how far will he go to silence the protesters?

I have not been asked to write this e-mail.  I have not been encouraged to attend any town hall meetings.  No one has offered me money to protest against President Obama and the House and Senate members.  I am acting on my own. I have the ability to think for myself and believe that I can make the decisions best for me.  I plan to continue to speak up and let those around me, as well as Senator Hagan and Representative Kissell, know how I am reacting to what is going on.  I have never before been a political activist but I have never before seen government out of control as it is in 2009.  I will support those who oppose what is happening and I will speak out until our govenment starts behaving in a manner that will benefit our country.  I encourage the American people to speak out and attend town hall meetings and ask questions if they are concerned about their country.  We still have the right to speak out.

I am copying this e-mail to a lot of people.  They have to make up their own minds about how far they are willing to go to protect their own healthcare.  They have to decide if they are going to attend a town hall meeting.  I hope this e-mail will encourage them to speak out.  But I am not forcing anyone to agree with me. I am not threatening anyone.  I am angry but I am not a mob.  I consider myself a conservative, not a "rabid right wing extremist".

So, White House, I have officially tattled on myself and turned myself in..........How much trouble am I in?  How will you use this information against me?

Can I save my Country from you--I will try.

            MD to ID Illegal Aliens
            August 03, 2009
            Chuck Floyd
Below is an article from a local newspaper.  The citizens of Maryland have been waiting for a long time for the elected officials to enforce the law and stop funding the illegals coming into Maryland.  We will see if it is real!!!!

Maryland to be part of effort to identify ‘criminal aliens'

Inmates will be checked against federal databases

In one of President Barack Obama's first forays into immigration reform, Maryland's five largest jurisdictions are expected to implement a federal program next year that cross-checks the fingerprints of everyone processed in their jails against federal databases to better identify illegal immigrants.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's "Secure Communities" program was introduced in 50 jurisdictions last year and is projected to be in all of the nation's local jails by 2013. Montgomery, Prince George's, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties and Baltimore city will be the state's first jurisdictions to take part.

Under the program, local law enforcement agents run every inmate's fingerprints through an FBI database and a database of all legal immigrants. Inmates determined to be illegal immigrants are flagged to be deported after they serve their sentence.

ICE says Secure Communities will prioritize for deportation violent criminals serving sentences longer than a year.

The Secure Communities program, however, has its share of detractors. Some defense attorneys and immigrant advocates say that early deportations are common, sometimes even before a suspect's trial. And, critics charge that previous enforcement efforts were supposed to prioritize dangerous criminals but sometimes failed to do so.

"Everybody is in a state of confusion," said Kerry O'Brien, director of the legal team for Casa of Maryland. "ICE is sending very mixed signals. Sometimes it's only the worst criminals, other times it's a fingerprint box and a piece of software."

In their fiscal 2010 Homeland Security appropriations bills, the House earlier this summer approved $200 million for Secure Communities and the Senate, $196 million. Conference committee review is expected in the fall.

Once approved, the five Maryland jurisdictions will implement Secure Communities sometime in 2010, said ICE spokeswoman Gillian Brigham. The rest of Maryland should be enrolled by 2013.

In Montgomery County, news of Secure Communities comes less than six months after County Executive Isiah Leggett began requiring county police to send ICE the names of everyone arrested and charged with crimes of violence and gun violations.

Questions over the logistics of implementing Secure Communities and whether local jurisdictions can opt out have yet to be answered.

County Attorney Leon Rodriguez will hash over those issues with ICE officials Sept. 3, but so far, County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) does not see cause for concern, said his spokesman, Patrick K. Lacefield.

"This is going to be happening in the entire country; this is the shape of things to come," Lacefield said. "We have always said that immigration is the feds' responsibility. Well, here they're saying they're going to do this piece."

"It's just a question of roll-out and a question of detail," Lacefield added.

A spokesman for Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon was unable to find any city staffers who were aware that the city was slated for the program.

A spokesman for Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson was unfamiliar with Secure Communities and was not able to contact county staff who were.

            Criminal deportations soaring

Under ICE's Criminal Alien Program, federal agents already pore over inmate logs sent by local jails. The agency estimates that the United States has between 300,000 and 450,000 immigrants serving time in local, state and federal prisons.

The number of immigration warrants issued through the Criminal Alien Program skyrocketed from fewer than 32,000 in 2006 to more than 220,000 last year.

ICE has doubled the number of criminals it has picked up for deportation from Montgomery County jails each of the past two years. In 2007, ICE removed 172 such inmates from county jails, according to county officials. In 2008, the number mushroomed to 274, and through July 28, agents have picked up 320 for deportation this year.

ICE officials would not comment on what is driving the increase in Montgomery County, but did point out that funding for the deportations from the nation's jails grew from $138 million in fiscal 2007 to $189 million in fiscal 2009.

            Possibly a ‘powerful tool'

Marc Rosenblum, senior policy analyst for the Washington-based Migration Policy Institute, says Secure Communities should prove a "powerful tool" in identifying dangerous criminals for deportation.

He said that unlike ICE's controversial 287g program, which enables officers to make immigration-based arrests, Secure Communities doesn't rely on nuanced training and the discretion of local law enforcement officials.

But the program is so new that advocates have yet to gauge how prioritizing the worst criminals plays out at a community level.

"That is a little bit opaque; we don't know how that's going to work," Rosenblum said.

Immigrant advocates worry Secure Communities could encourage local officers to make arrests along ethnic or racial lines and that it will damage immigrants' trust of local police.

Montgomery County's shift in immigration policy dealt a blow to that relationship, and Secure Communities will only deepen the mistrust, said O'Brien, of Casa of Maryland, which has joined a national campaign against the program.

"It's very disappointing," O'Brien said. "If it comes through as pre-conviction checking and deportation for minor crimes and accusation of minor crimes, it's completely devastating.

"Every single person who goes into a jail gets screened, so the word on the street is going to be that if you have a beer in the park and get caught, you're going to be deported. All cooperation will dry up."

              Reverse Racism in the US
              August 02, 2009
              Chuck Floyd
The recent racial issue in Cambridge, MA is a typical reverse discrimination incident.  A white police officer arrests a black man who is disruptive and will not cooperate with the police.  The problem is that the black man is a university professor who teaches classes about overcoming racial issues. Mr. Gates was showing his racial prejudices, just like Reverend Wright.

The arrest of Henry Louis Gates. reminds us that we do not live in a post-racial society due to a post-politically correct society that wants to find victims.  Look at the recent judicial case against white firefighters where the President's Supreme Court nominee ruled against them only because they were white.  The Supreme Court just ruled in their favor and said that the white firefighters were wrongly denied promotion.

Why did the governor of Massachusetts remark that Mr. Gates has experienced "every black man's nightmare." Much of what has been publicly discussed pushed a stereotyped narrative to a public with a sense of collective "white guilt."  It was Mr. Gate's fault that he was arrested, but once again the black guy needs an excuse and wants to be a victim of the system and society.

Mr. Gates is an elder elite, radical-thinking, well-educated bigot. He tried to insult a blue-collar police officer, who was following standard police procedure. The arresting officers only put their hands on Mr. Gates to handcuff him when he refused, after several warnings, to cooperate with police efforts to sort out the situation and secure his own property.

In adopting an adversarial attitude based on an assumption of racial bias, Mr. Gates rejected an opportunity to exercise the hard-won right to have his property protected. The Stupid Act was on Mr. Gates' part, not the police.

President Obama, absent the facts, claimed the arresting cops acted "stupidly," without using proper judgment and without relying on their years of service and training.  The President was wrong in this matter and the "Beer Summit" did not heal the wounds he caused to the rest of America.
