Again, we have an American citizen and federal border agent killed by an illegal alien. Our southern border is as dangerous as the Iraq-Iran border. We must have Mexican and US troops on the border along with the double fence authorized by the US Congress.
FBI Special Agent Keith Slotter said Friday investigators are checking hospitals and other medical facilities in hopes of tracking down the suspect or suspects who killed agent Robert Wilmer Rosas late Thursday after he responded to a Border Patrol call near Campo, a remote area of San Diego County. The agent was killed by drug smugglers who are illegal immigrants trying to cross the border. "I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our own," said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. The Secretary has weakened the enforcement of the CBP since she took over the Department of Homeland Security. Ms. Napolitano said she had directed the department to use its full resources to aid in the murder investigation. The agent spotted a suspicious group of people Thursday night in the Campo area near the Mexican border and called for additional agents to help track them, U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Daryl Reed said. When the suspicious group split up, the agent followed some of the suspects on his own, Mr. Reed said. Other agents lost radio contact with him shortly after 9 p.m. then heard gunshots. They found Mr. Rosas, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said he was shot in the head. The president of the union representing 17,000 Border Patrol agents declined to discuss the details of the shooting but said his organization has long been concerned about staffing levels and situations in which agents work alone in the field. He said such situations are not uncommon, even in the roughly 60 miles of border covered by the San Diego sector. "It's fairly common for our agents throughout San Diego County and the rest of the country to work without a partner," said T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council. "They each have separate vehicles, and it's a matter of concern with us." The Border Patrol said the agent was 30 and was a three-year veteran who is survived by his wife, a 2-year-old son and an 11-month-old daughter. Our support goes out to his family. We can use high-tech geospatial solutions to assist the border agents and help prevent deaths due to illegal aliens. -

Below are some REAL suggestions for health care reform. This is what the American people expect and deserve.
To create a system that delivers more choices of higher quality health care at lower cost we need to take the following six straightforward steps: Stop Paying the Crooks. First, we must dramatically reduce healthcare fraud within our current healthcare system. Outright fraud - criminal activity - accounts for as much as 10 percent of all healthcare spending. That is more than $200 billion every year. Medicare alone could account for as much as $40 billion a year. (Please visit HealthTransformation.net for the information about our latest CHT Press book, Stop Paying the Crooks, edited by Jim Frogue.) Move from a Paper-based to an Electronic Health System. As it stands now, it is simply impossible to keep up with fraud in a paper-based system. An electronic system would free tens of billions of dollars to be spent on investing on the kind of modern system that will transform healthcare. In addition, it would dramatically increase our ability to eliminate costly medical errors and to accelerate the adoption of new solutions and breakthroughs. Tax Reform. The savings realized through very deliberately and very systematically eliminating fraud could be used to provide tax incentives and vouchers that would help cover those Americans who currently can't afford coverage. In addition, we need to expand tax incentives for insurance provided by small employers and the self-employed. Finally, elimination of capital gains taxes for investments in health-solution companies can greatly impact the creation advancement of new solutions that create better health at lower cost. Create a Health-Based Health System. In essence, we must create a system that focuses on improving individual health. The best way to accomplish this is to find out what solutions are actually working today that save lives and save money and then design public policy to encourage their widespread adoption. For example, according to the Dartmouth Health Atlas, if the 6,000 hospitals in the country provided the same standard of care of the Intermountain or Mayo health clinics, Medicare alone would save 30 percent of total spending every year. We need to make best practices the minimum practice. We need the federal government and other healthcare stakeholders to consistently migrate to best practices that ensure quality, safety and better outcomes. Reform Our Health Justice System. Currently, the U.S. civil justice system is the most expensive in the world-about double the average cost in virtually every other industrialized nation. But for all of the money spent, our civil justice system neither effectively compensates persons injured from medical negligence nor encourages the elimination of medical errors. Because physicians fear malpractice suits, defensive medicine (redundant, wasteful treatment designed to avoid lawsuits, not treat the patient) has become pervasive. CHT is developing a number of bold health-justice reforms including a "safe harbor" for physicians who followed clinical best practices in the treatment of a patient. You can learn more at HealthTransformation.net. Invest in Scientific Research and Breakthroughs. We must accelerate and focus national efforts, re-engineer care delivery, and ultimately prevent diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease and diabetes which are financially crippling our healthcare system. I agree that the vetting process is too long for Presidential Appointees that should be in place to help run the Executive Branch. The media has a large responsibility in this due to their reporting process. Also, many times an individual does not report all of his/her issues that may be important to the vetting process.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton blasted the government vetting and clearance process Monday, blaming it for long delays in announcing nominees for key positions in the State Department. She also criticized the procedure's intrusiveness for discouraging highly qualified candidates from accepting senior posts. "The clearance and vetting process is a nightmare, and it takes far longer than any of us would want to see. It is frustrating beyond words," Mrs. Clinton said. "I mean, it is ridiculous. Some very good people just didn't want to be vetted." USAID is a very important agency that provides assistance around the world. The secretary spoke at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she was asked why an administrator has not been named nearly six months into the new administration. "Let me say, it's not for lack of trying," she said. "I pushed very hard last week when I knew I was coming here to get permission from the White House to be able to tell you that help is on the way and someone will be nominated shortly." Administration officials said last week that a nominee would be announced soon. The most likely person is Paul Farmer, a Harvard University professor and physician who is well-known for his aid work in Haiti. Although much of the work on vetting and clearance is done by the FBI, the White House ethics office has been stricter under President Obama than in some previous administrations. White House officials declined comment on the issue. Mrs. Clinton derided some of the questions applicants are required to answer, searching for each place where each applicant has lived since age 18 and every foreign national he or she knows. She also said that most candidates have to hire lawyers and accountants to help them through the process, and some lack the means to afford such an expense. All political appointees should be in place within six months of a President being in office. In order for this to happen, politics must be set aside by both parties. -

Gangs in Maryland laugh at politicians since they welcome them with open arms and then seek federal funds to fight gangs. It is not a laughing matter for the public safety of Maryland and to the citizens who are robbed and killed by illegal immigrants. Citizens of Maryland must connect the dots between the politicians who welcome the illegals and the amount of crime we have in our state.
July 2, Letter to Editor, MC Sentinel Misguided Leadership & Assistance Why all the fanfare about throwing a few million more federal dollars into the battle against gang violence in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties? ("Grant to help fight against gangs", Business Gazette, June 19, 2009). Spearheaded by Democratic Rep. Steny Hoyer, with assistance from fellow Democrats Rep. Donna Edwards and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, these funds are yet another misguided appropriation for counseling and mentoring centers as the solution for the growing tide of gang-related crime and violence. Like a deranged firemen who purposely starts a fire and then later declares himself a hero for extinguishing it, Maryland's Democratic House leadership are more the problem than the solution when it comes to gang violence in Maryland. Instead of focusing on the core problem of illegal immigration, which provides the majority of foot soldiers for the violent MS-13, 18th Street and other Hispanic gangs in Maryland, Hoyer, Edwards and Van Hollen are more than happy to spend our tax dollars on unnecessary programs that seemingly never go away. This includes funding for Latin American Youth Centers, Day Laborer Centers, Family Justice Centers, Latino Mentoring Programs, Multicultural Centers, Primary Care Clinics, Naturalization Services and more, with most funding filtered through illegal alien support groups like CASA of Maryland, Catholic Charities and Identity Inc. These programs make Maryland a magnet for illegal immigration. Even more disturbing is Van Hollen's recently published House of Representatives "Fiscal Year 2010 Project Funding Requests", which reads like the Who's Who of aiding and abetting illegal immigration and their support groups. Maryland's taxpaying citizens do not want, nor have no real need for these ethnic centric programs and services. Do Hoyer, Edwards and Van Hollen actually believe that the ten male and female members of the 18th Street Gang, all illegal aliens and recently arrested for stabbing to death (72 times) a 15 year-old in Gaithersburg, would have flourished from the counseling and mentoring services offered at these multicultural centers? Or would a strong dose of law and order have done a more effective job at a fraction of the cost? But our Congressional trio is nowhere to be found when it comes to funding for enforcing immigration laws, providing training for local police and sheriff departments to screen all arrested for immigration status or even increasing law enforcement manpower and jail space to hold the burgeoning number of criminal illegal aliens. Hoyer, Edwards and Van Hollen knowingly support "Post Mortem" policing that fails the citizens of Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. Instead of "building trust" in so-called immigrant communities, our representatives directly erode the quality of life for the majority of Maryland's citizens. Fortunately the 2010 elections are right around the corner. Brad Botwin, Director Help Save Maryland -

The US is now pulling its troops out of major cities and the Iraqi military is taking over the security of its own cities. This is success!!! We thank former President Bush and ask all of the Democrat members of Congress to thank him for his efforts and not "failing" in Iraq.
The US mission in Iraq will go on for many years to come and we will be in Iraq like we have been in Europe, South Korea, and the Middle East. We must thank our military leaders and our troops for all they have given for this victory. Now we ask the Iraqi government to repay the United States in several ways. 1. Have a true Democratic government 2. Repay the US will $30 oil for the next 20 years 3. Have property rights 4. Have equal rights for women 5. Have a 15% flat tax system and limit graft 6. Educate all people in Iraq 7. Have a free enterprise system for businesses 8. Have freedom of religion 9. Protect your borders 10. Be friends with the US, not Iran Iraq has the opportunity to be a successful nation, but it must resolve internal fighting among its own people and stop the influx of arms and terrorists from Iran. The US has done all it can do and now must take a secondary role in Iraq. -
