Maryland Politicians are Illegal
March 29, 2009
Chuck Floyd
Democrat politicians in Maryland are trying to protect hundred of thousands of illegal immigrants living in our communities.  They are not living up to the oath of their office and are betraying all Maryland citizens.  We want legal citizens and authorized US visitors to obtain Maryland drivers licenses--not illegals.

The Maryland House of Delegates struck an uneasy compromise last week on a bill that would, in effect, allow thousands of illegal immigrants to renew their driver's licenses but require proof of legal status to obtain a new license beginning next month.

Opponents say the measure would create two classes of driver's licenses for those who can or cannot prove legal status - for example, with a Social Security number or a pay stub - and also provide a backdoor amnesty for those staying in the country illegally.

"It's a bait and switch - it's an amnesty bill under a different name," said House Minority Leader Anthony J. O'Donnell, Calvert Republican.

The amended bill, which is expected to pass the House this week, purports to bring Maryland into compliance with the federal Real ID Act of 2005, which requires states to set tighter standards for documenting residents.

Maryland is one of only four states - along with Hawaii, New Mexico and Washington state - that do not check the immigration status of persons trying to obtain a driver's license. Gov. Martin O'Malley, a Democrat, and Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) officials came out against the current practice last month.

The situation has gotten so bad that businesses run classified ads in Spanish-language publications in the District, Virginia and Maryland urging "undocumented Hispanic friends" to take advantage of the opportunity to get a Maryland ID without having to prove they are in the country legally.

In one case, Maryland motor vehicle officials say, 68 people applying for licenses and identification cards gave the same address for an 800-square-foot home in Baltimore.

It is time that even liberal US and Maryland citizens say "enough" from these corrupt politicians.  We demand security and an end to helping illegals with ID fraud.  We want our rights protected and our drivers licenses to be secure.  I hope the Maryland citizens will put enough pressure on the Governor to stop this outrageous fraud.

    Hezbollah Uses Mexican Drug Routes
    March 27, 2009
    Chuck Floyd
We have been telling the politicians and American public for years that terrorists are crossing our southern border.  Go to the American Border Patrol website and see the articles and warnings.  Our southern border is more lawless that the Iraq border.

Hezbollah is using the same southern narcotics routes that Mexican drug kingpins do to smuggle drugs and people into the United States, reaping money to finance its operations and threatening U.S. national security, current and former U.S. law enforcement, defense and counterterrorism officials say.

Not only the Mexican drug cartels, but the Iran-backed Lebanese group has long been involved in narcotics and human trafficking in South America's tri-border region of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Increasingly, however, it is relying on Mexican narcotics syndicates that control access to transit routes into the U.S.

Hezbollah relies on "the same criminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartels," said Michael Braun, who just retired as assistant administrator and chief of operations at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

They work together and leverage those relationships to their benefit, to smuggle contraband and humans into the U.S.  These concerns are confirmed by six U.S. officials, including law enforcement, defense and counterterrorism specialists. They spoke on the condition that they not be named because of the sensitivity of the topic.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was in Mexico on Thursday saying that the critical border situation is the fault of the U.S.  The Obama administration must face reality and know that the border has to be closed with the assistance of the military and the illegals in this country must be dealt with by deportation.

      Just Words--That Hurt
      March 21, 2009
      Chuck Floyd
I have a brother who is blind and he has participated in the Special Olympics.  The President's statement was crude and says a lot about his thoughts on the disabled.

      Article on the President's comments:

Appearing on "The Tonight Show," the president told host Jay Leno he'd been practicing at the White House's bowling alley but wasn't happy with his score of 129. The he rolled a gutter ball by quipping: "It was like the Special Olympics or something."

The audience laughed, but the White House quickly recognized the blunder.

On his way back to Washington on Air Force One, Obama called the chairman of the Special Olympics, Tim Shriver, to say he was sorry _ even before the taped program aired late Thursday night.

"He expressed his disappointed and he apologized in a way that was very moving. He expressed that he did not intend to humiliate this population," Shriver said Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America." Obama, Shriver said, wants to have some Special Olympic athletes visit the White House to bowl or play basketball.

Still, Shriver said, "I think it's important to see that words hurt and words do matter. And these words that in some respect can be seem as humiliating or a put down to people with special needs do cause pain and they do result in stereotypes."

Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton told reporters traveling with Obama that the president's offhand remark was not meant to disparage the Special Olympics, only to poke some fun at the commander-in-chief's bowling skills.

"He thinks that the Special Olympics are a wonderful program that gives an opportunity to shine to people with disabilities from around the world," Burton said.

Instead of bowling, please concentrate on the economy.

        Gongress is at Fault
        March 20, 2009
        Chuck Floyd
Congress is responsible for the economic crisis that we are in and are making the crisis worst.  The American taxpayer is angry, frustrated, and feels abused. We must demand term limits to get rid of these power-hungry and incompetent elected officials.   Policies enacted by Congress are destroying the free market system.

Congress must allow these "too big to fail" companies to go bankrupt.  They were once small and used paper money to get big, so let they return to a small company status.  The reality is that no matter what we do now, tens of trillions of dollars in wealth have been lost. The government cannot manage the government and private companies at the same time and should stop trying to do both.

At the end of the day, the thing to get outraged about is not the $440 million in bonuses at AIG or the $10 million that Citi Group is spending to redesign its shrunken executive suite.  These may seem like princely sums, but they are almost insignificant compared with the real outrage: the hundreds of billion dollars of taxpayer funds that have been put at risk to keep AIG, GM, and Citi from failing and taking the whole financial system down with them.  Let's keep our attention on the elephant rather than the pimples on its behind.   Stop using taxpayer money for bailouts.

Congress's action of taxing bonuses is not legal and shows their arrogance.  Congress allowed and approved these bonuses because they pushed through the bailout bill without reading the bill.  Now that the members of Congress are "caught", they are trying to place the blame on others.

There's nothing remotely fair about using taxpayer money to rescue a free-market financial system from the mistakes of the financiers and CEO's.  The American taxpayer needs a bailout with fewer taxes, not more taxes to rescue failed businesses.  It is time for a taxpayer revolt.

          Census Count
          March 18, 2009
          Chuck Floyd

President Obama wants ACORN to help with the 2010 census.  This corrupt organization helped get him elected so now he wants them to help with fraud during the census count.  All organizations that assist with the census count must be vetted.

Remember ACORN? If you watched any coverage of the 2008 election, you surely heard of the group. If you saw Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck voting at a polling location near you, they were probably registered by an ACORN volunteer.  This corrupt organization has faced lawsuit after lawsuit claiming the group is responsible for massive voter fraud. What did the group do after that? They moved on to "help" people break the law by breaking into locked-down, foreclosed homes and encouraging the evicted home owners to continue living in the homes, even though they could not pay the bills. Now, this group will be helping with the 2010 census.

This is an outrage to the American democratic voting system.  The Commerce Department must use law abiding groups, not corrupt political organizations to assist with the census since this population count is critical to Congressional seats and funding.

            AFL-CIO Pledges Votes for Specter
            March 16, 2009
            Chuck Floyd
Is Arlen Specter more concerned about his own political career or the citizens of PA?  Does he have any political standards for himself or his party?  Why would he accept assistance from the labor unions?  Does Senator Specter think that he is in trouble with his Republican Party?

Angling for a critical Senate swing vote to pass the "card check" bill that would make it easier to form unions, Pennsylvania labor leaders promised Sen. Arlen Specter that they will switch union members from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party to help him win a tough 2010 primary election, The Washington Times has learned.

Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President William M. George said he pledged Mr. Specter "all kinds of help from the union" in a series of meetings to woo the Republican senator's support for the bill, which would ease rules favoring secret-ballot elections to unionize workplaces.

"We are pushing to give him help in the primary, including changing Democrats to Republicans for the primary," Mr. George told The Times. "It's hard to do because of other races in the state ... but we'll do it for 'card check.' "

The legislation is a top priority for labor leaders now that they have a Democratic ally in the White House ready to sign it into law, and the bargaining with voter registration in Pennsylvania shows how far the unions will go to secure victory.

Pennsylvania persists as a union stronghold with 1.4 million union members and union retirees, accounting for more than 10 percent of the population and one-third of households. About 73 percent of the bloc are registered Democrats, according to the state AFL-CIO.

Mr. Specter's has declined to comment specifically on the union's promise.  Card Check is bad for our workers, our economy and our nation.  This Socialist style approach to unions will give them power over goods and services; thus, raise prices on everything.

              Boycott by Illegals
              March 16, 2009
              Chuck Floyd
More communities need to do what they did in Victoria, Texas--boycott of illegal aliens.

An interesting event happened in Victoria, Texas, population of 55,000 and about 80 miles west of Houston.

Local Hispanic leaders there, in opposition to pending Immigration Legislation, boycotted all Caucasian owned  businesses in the Victoria area this past weekend as a demonstration of their economic impact on the community.  The boycott was declared a success by the Hispanic community, noting that revenue in Caucasian owned businesses was down by 19%.

Business owners declared the boycott a success as well, pointing out that shoplifting was reduced by 77%, money orders sent out of the country were down by 97%, and the cost of daily clean-up and trash collection was down by 84%.  Shoppers reported that they could actually hear English being spoken throughout the community for the first time in recent memory, and customers actually paid for purchases with real money, not government debit cards.

Mayve CASA of Maryland will organize a boycott here in Maryland!!!!

                Card Check is Socialism
                March 12, 2009
                Chuck Floyd
The US Congress is destroying US jobs and creating debt for all American citizens for years to come with the Card Check, Protect the Unions legislation.

The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) does more than effectively eliminate workers' rights to a secret ballot vote on joining a union. Section 3 of EFCA gives government officials the power to impose contracts on workers and firms. Government bureaucrats would set compensation and make most major business decisions at newly unionized companies. The bureaucrats writing these proposals would have no expertise in the company's operations or business model and would be unaccountable if their decisions drove the company into bankruptcy. Workers would lose all say over working conditions. EFCA would effectively create government-run workplaces.

This legislation will effectively eliminate millions of jobs and stop companies from expanding their businesses.  This will cause inflated prices for services and cost of goods.  This will provide the political engine for the unions and will silence small business.

Mutual consent and good faith negotiating will be a thing of the past.  Employers will be forced to accept unions when they do not want a union.  A formal method of a secret ballot and individual rights will be eliminated.  Our constitutional rights are challenged due to the pay-off to the unions for supporting the Democrat Party.

This government-imposed arbitration radically departs from the foundation of the collective bargaining process: the principle of mutual consent. In place of the agreement of both parties, government arbitrators would simply impose working conditions on both employers and employees, whether such conditions are workable or not.

Our federal government is imposing on our rights and will lead the US to socialism.

                    Dulles Rail Project on Track
                    March 10, 2009
                    Chuck Floyd
It is about time that there is a rail connection from Dulles to the metro system and downtown DC.  If one travels around the world, other countries have a rail system that connects their major airports.

The decades-long effort to bring Metrorail service to Washington Dulles International Airport is expected to reach a major milestone today when Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and Transportation Department officials finalize a deal for $900 million in federal funding.

"This is the end of that trail," said Gordon Hickey, a spokesman for Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat who will be joined at the signing ceremony by Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and other officials. "It's a great economic driver for Northern Virginia and the whole region - the whole state, even."

The deal with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which is managing the project, assures that work will proceed on the first phase of the $5.2 billion rail extension - 23 miles of track known as the Silver Line.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) gave its approval to the plan in December, and the Bush administration in January signed off as well, sending the extension to Congress for a 60-day review.

The funding agreement makes the Dulles corridor rail project immediately eligible for the money under the FTA's New Starts program, which is the federal government's primary funding source for local transit "guideway" capital projects.

Congrats to all that have made this project a reality.

                      Mexican War Out of Control
                      March 08, 2009
                      Chuck Floyd
Drugs and human trafficking are the major reasons for the violence on our southern border.  We must put our military on our border in order to control our border from the criminals, terrorists, and inept US politicians.  We have to assist the Mexican government in their fight against a lawless society.  Our southern border with Mexico is one of the most violent and lawless in the world.

Nearly 7,000 Mexican soldiers and federal police arrived in the U.S.-Mexico border city of Ciudad Juarez this week to restore security to a city plagued by a long-standing, bloody drug war.   Random vehicle checkpoints, patrols of masked soldiers and police in SWAT gear are some of the signs of the massive military buildup ordered by Mexico's president, Ciudad Juarez police spokesman Jaime Torres Valadez said Thursday.  Thousands of people are killed each year in Juarez due to illegal drugs and human trafficking.

Extreme violence among warring drug cartels and the Mexican government has long plagued Juarez and the state of Chihuahua, but the situation has been getting worse.  And this week, the U.S. Consulate in Juarez specifically warned Americans to avoid an area southeast of the city.
"There has been a dramatic increase in drug related violence in the Guadalupe Bravo area and there is no indication that the situation will improve in the near future," the consulate said on its Web site.

President Felipe Calderon's security cabinet met in the city last week to devise a strategy to combat narco-traffickers.  Surveillance cameras will be installed throughout the city to help police stem executions and assassinations in the streets, scene of many of Juarez's 1,600 killings in 2008.  Other security measures must be implemented to fight this out of control violence.

Human rights advocates say the military presence creates a police state in a region where confidence in law enforcement is low.  These same human rights groups in the US want American citizens to accept illegal immigrants and drugs into our country.  These groups are corrupt and just wrong in their approach to enforcing the rule of law.

Our border is just like the border in Iraq—more troops mean better security.  The surge in Iraq is the example that the Mexican and US governments should use in this fight against the drug and human trafficking cartels.

Our national security and our society depend on keeping drugs and illegal immigrants out of the US and fighting these drug cartels.

                        WAR Along Our Southern Border
                        March 03, 2009
                        Chuck Floyd
I have been writing and warning all Americans about the war on our southern border with Mexico.  We have a national crisis with drugs, gang members, and thousands of illegals streaming across our border every day.  This must stop and we will have to put our military on our southern border.   Elected officials must put the rule of law ahead of politics and new votes.

The U.S. Defense Department thinks Mexico's two most deadly drug cartels together have fielded more than 100,000 foot soldiers - an army that rivals Mexico's armed forces and threatens to turn the country into a narco-state.  "It's moving to crisis proportions," a senior U.S. defense official told The Washington Times. The official, who spoke on the condition that he not be named because of the sensitive nature of his work, said the cartels' "foot soldiers" are on a par with Mexico's army of about 130,000.

The disclosure underlines the enormity of the challenge Mexico and the United States face as they struggle to contain what is increasingly looking like a civil war or an insurgency along the U.S.-Mexico border. In the past year, about 7,000 people have died - more than 1,000 in January alone. The conflict has become increasingly brutal, with victims beheaded and bodies dissolved in vats of acid.

The death toll dwarfs that in Afghanistan, where about 200 fatalities, including 29 U.S. troops, were reported in the first two months of 2009. About 400 people, including 31 U.S. military personnel, died in Iraq during the same period.  The biggest and most violent combatants are the Sinaloa cartel, known by U.S. and Mexican federal law enforcement officials as the "Federation" or "Golden Triangle," and its main rival, "Los Zetas" or the Gulf Cartel, whose territory runs along the Laredo,Texas, borderlands.

As a result, Mexico is behind only Pakistan and Iran as a top U.S. national security concern, ranking above Afghanistan and Iraq, the defense official added.  Michael V. Hayden, who left as CIA director in January, put Mexico second to Iran as a top national security threat to the United States. His successor, Leon E. Panetta, told reporters at his first news conference that the agency is "paying ... a lot of attention to" Mexico.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday that "the stakes are high for the safety of many, many citizens of Mexico and the stakes are high for the United States no doubt."  A State Department travel advisory last month seemed timed to caution U.S. students contemplating spring breaks south of the border.

When will the Obama administration acknowledge this crisis and meet this challenge with securing our borders?  Drugs, gangs, and illegal immigration are tearing our country apart and destroying American lives.  Our southern border is the most dangerous border in the world.

                          Seeking Hispanics for Votes
                          March 03, 2009
                          Chuck Floyd
The new RNC Chairman, Mike Steele, is trying to encourage minorities to give the Republican Party a new look.  He is on black and hispanic radio and TV talk shows.  Where should he focus and why?  Will blacks and hispanics leave the Democrat Party?  What do we have to offer them?

Five years after former President George W. Bush attracted nearly half of the Hispanic vote in the 2004 presidential election, Hispanic Republicans are worrying that support for the party among Latinos is in a free fall.  Leading Hispanic Republican strategists say the natural attraction the party should enjoy with churchgoing, socially conservative Latino voters is being overwhelmed by a single issue: the party's hard-line stance on illegal immigration.

How does illegal immigration affect the major parties and the minority communities?  Should the black and/or hispanic communities be fearful of each other?  How is taking the jobs?

With the gang and drug violence along our border and the link between illegal immigration and these two critical criminal elements, should the Republican Party relax its efforts on accepting illegal immigrants?

Chairman Michael Steele told The Washington Times in an interview earlier this month he planned to revive the party by reaching "beyond our comfort" zone in the South and Southwest to the Democratic-leaning strongholds in the Northeast and Midwest.  "We need messengers to really capture that region — young, Hispanic, black, a cross section," he said. "We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-suburban hip-hop settings."

Meanwhile, Hispanic Democrats are looking to cement their gains, using immigration policy as a wedge issue. Democratic members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus late last month announced plans for a 17-city "listening tour" to build popular support for fixing the nation's "broken immigration system."  Caucus members say the tour is designed to pressure the Obama administration and Congress to pass a major immigration overhaul bill this year despite the competing claims for health care, education and energy.

Former Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen told the Capitol Hill forum the immigration issue had to be handled in a "rational, thoughtful way," but said the party would do better to focus on economic and social issues as a way to woo Hispanic voters. But he said the party as a whole must continue to insist on securing the country's borders against new illegal immigrants before any discussion on how to deal with illegals already here.

We as American citizens must force our elected officials to enforce our laws, stop illegal immigration, shut down the drugs and gangs, and deny all illegal immigrants any tax payer services.  We cannot allow "bad change" just for political purposes.  We must have policy and outreach based on principles and the rule of law.  Protect our rights!
