Congrats to Mike Steele in winning the votes today to become the next RNC Chair. The Republican Party needs Mike Steele to refocus its efforts and to win the confidence of the American people.
Michael Steele’s election as Chairman of the Republican National Committee is a historic achievement for Maryland, our Party and the nation. Now, the RNC will focus on the concerns of all Americans in the spirit of President Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. Having had the privilege of working with Michael Steele in the Maryland Republican Party, I look forward to supporting him in his efforts to rebuild the Republican Party. He will include more working families, give them hope and have them keep more of their tax dollars. He will help the party in its efforts to gain the American trust and restore the values of conservative fiscal policies. Mike will help our party grow and craft the strategy of fighting our way back to a Majority in Congress. Again, it is a great day to be a Republican in the United States!!! -

Newly elected President Obama made one of several mistakes this week--he closed Gitmo. This is a bad decision to give these terrorists rights in our country. Most of these terrorists have lived better in prison than in their own countries. The Bush administration did the right thing by putting these war criminals in a prison---not on our soil.
As evident from the televised "Close Gitmo" signing ceremoney, President Obama has no idea how to handle these prisoners of war. He cannot just release these terrorists who will go back to the battlefield and kill more Americans. By closing the Gitmo prison, which now houses over 250 al Qaeda terrorists and enemy combatants, he will endanger the security of the U.S. homeland. These terrorists and criminals interned at Guantanamo are some of the most dangerous criminals this country has ever had to deal with in an undeclared war. Guantanamo provides a safe and sure way that these terrorists and al Qaeda fighters can be imprisoned and kept from the Islamic worldwide fight. What will Obama and Biden do with these terrorists? If they are brought to the United States, then I would suggest that these dangerous terrorists be placed in a special prison camp run by Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Put these terrorists in pink clothing, give them peanut butter sandwiches, and make them work and live in tents. Do not provide them with special meals, reading materials, or anything that will enhance their stay in our homeland. Let Sheriff Joe Arpaio show these terrorists that Gitmo was a palace. -

Governor Martin O’Malley has selected to spend hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on illegal immigrants and telling legal Maryland citizens who are employed by the state to “take a hike”. Gov. Martin O'Malley in his budget plan Wednesday proposed laying off 700 state employees to battle a $2 billion deficit. Mr. O'Malley, a Democrat, submitted a $14.4 billion operating budget for fiscal 2010, which is 1.3 percent less than the 2009 budget. "This budget is by necessity very, very lean, because of the challenges of these times -- the contraction of the national economy, indeed, the global economy," he said. What happened to the billion dollar surplus that Governor Ehrlich left when he was voted out of office? Where has the fiscal responsibility of this Governor gone? Why are state and local elected officials spending hundreds of millions of dollars on illegal immigrants, CASA de Maryland, and other illegal-alien groups? If the General Assembly approves the budget, the 700 layoffs would save about $30 million. Maryland has about 80,000 state employees, who will not be getting salary increases under the budget plan. Mr. O'Malley's budget proposal is working on the assumption Maryland will receive $350 million in federal stimulus money to support Medicaid spending, and the governor pointed out that the state could end up receiving more. The budget plan also will use about $255 million from the state's Rainy Day Fund, keeping about $687 million on hand. About $45 million will be used for the 2009 shortfall, and $210 million will go toward the fiscal 2010 budget. The budget plan will leave a balance of about $46 million to help offset any more revenue write-downs, if the economy continues to falter. Maryland is facing future budget deficits of $600 million to $713 million in coming years. Governor O’Malley is robbing the Maryland taxpayers and spending money designed for roads and other state projects to pay for programs for illegal immigrants and special interest groups. In two years we have a choice to remove him from office and elect a Governor who will put the taxpayers of Maryland ahead of the illegal immigrants and their like-minded groups. -

I would like to thank President Bush for his service to all Americans. He was challenged in many ways and did the best job he could do by stopping attacks on our homeland. He succeeded in many areas and failed in a few. Every US President is successful in certain areas and must rise to the challenges of their time.
We have term limits for each Presidential (2 terms) and this is a good policy. It is now in the nation's best interest to have term limits for all members of Congress. With a black President, maybe we can get past the drawing of Congressional districts to favor any person or party. We must do this for the good of our nation. White America has shown that they can elect a person based on ideas, not skin color. Congrats to our new President and may God bless him and guide him in his policies and programs for the good of the American citizen. -

Border security is still questionable after President Bush leaves office. In 2006, the US Congress directed the Executive Branch to secure the border by passing legislation and providing billions of dollars for the program. President Bush cannot leave office and announce to the world that he was successful in protecting our nation from terrorists coming across our own borders.
The outgoing acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says violence along the Mexican border is the greatest challenge facing his yet-to-be-named successor. Michael Sullivan, who leaves his post Tuesday, said violent drug-trafficking organizations are killing police, government officials and innocent civilians, and that the ATF needs to work more closely with both Mexican authorities and the roughly 6,000 gun dealers along the Southwest border. The gun dealers play a key role in helping trace the source of weapons in Mexico, nearly all of which are suspected to be smuggled from the U.S., Mr. Sullivan told The Washington Times in a wide-ranging, hour-long interview. In 2008, about 8,000 guns were traced back to their source, up from about 1,000 previously, Mr. Sullivan said. "We're asking Mexico to address drugs moving either through or from Mexico. I think it's perfectly reasonable for them to say 'be equally committed to stopping the flow of guns,' “Mr. Sullivan estimates that 90 percent to 95 percent of those guns are smuggled into Mexico from the U.S. Where there are cameras, a properly built fence, and border patrol agents, our border is secure from weapon and drug trafficking. The problem is that DHS has misinformed the American public by stating they have build over 500 miles of fence for security; yet, they only have 200 miles of a properly built fence that works. The new administration must secure our nation’s border in order to protect us from terrorists, criminals, drug runners, and illegal aliens. We hope for the best. -

President Bush has asked us to judge him on his ability to protect America and to prevent terrorist attacks. He wants his entire presidency judged on these two issues. If this is the case, he will go down in history as a so-so president. Let me explain….
President Bush stated, "Tonight, I am filled with gratitude. I thank the American people for the trust you have given me." The president's farewell speech looked back on his eight years in office - which he dubbed a "period of consequence, a time set apart" - and attempted to explain all of his most contentious decisions through the prism of the Sept. 11terrorist attacks. "As the years passed, most Americans were able to return to life much as it had been before 9/11. But I never did," he said. President Bush did not do his most important job of keeping Americans safe from terrorist, drug runners, and invaders nor securing our homeland. He failed to protect American from the 10,000 a day illegal immigrants coming across our northern and southern borders. He put two border agents in jail who were trying to protect our border and has allowed millions of illegals in our country. These illegal aliens have been involved in drugs, human trafficking, identify theft, murder, theft, gang activity, and many other criminal activities. I do admit that after several years of chaos in Iraq, President Bush did support the surge and stopped the majority of the violence in Iraq. The military was hampered by politicians in the number of troops that were in the initial phases of the Iraq war. He did not adequately challenge North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China in their efforts and policies against the United States. After 8 years, our country is more at risk that it was before his tenure as President. He did do a much better job of protecting us than President Bill Clinton did during his 8 years as president. With the incoming Obama administration, our country is at great risk since most of the senior executives are “reruns” from the Clinton administration. They did not protect us and created policies that put our nation at great security risks. "America has gone more than seven years without another terrorist attack on our soil," said President Bush. Yes, that is true, but look at the millions of illegal immigrants that have come into our country over the last 8 years and the hundreds of billions of dollars these individuals have cost the American tax payer. President Bush did many good things in his 8 years as President, but his last four years of bad military policy, too much spending, not securing our borders, and poor communication skills have been his down-fall. He strayed from conservative policies and did not focus on protecting our homeland. I do think that with Obama as President, our homeland security will be worse. -

The Democrat Party is supposed to be for minority rights--right? What is Nancy Pelosi doing by limiting the rights of the Republican Party in Congress? When the Republicans were in power, they provided legislative rights for the Democrats, so why is Pelosi trying to be a "dictator"?
The Washington Post even took Speaker Pelosi to task yesterday for trampling on minority rights and shutting out Republicans from the legislative process. "BILLS SHOULD generally come to the floor under a procedure that allows open, full and fair debate consisting of a full amendment process that grants the minority the right to offer its alternatives, including a substitute." This is what Nancy Pelosi pushed for and promised two years ago ,but now the House Speaker, that fairness is gone and Republicans are not allowed this legislative process. Pelosi's unprecedented power grab is simply unacceptable, and we cannot stand for it. We need a US Congress that will debate the issues and provide the American citizen the best solution, not the best solution for a certain party. All American should demand that minority rights are preserved. What comes around goes around. -

The below article is in the Washington Post today. I have been saying for years that the welcome-mat for illegals is bad news for our community. Illegal immigrants bring their own culture and criminal ways with them while they will join gangs and then commit crime when the jobs are not there. Many of us in the county have been victims of crime from illegal immigrants. Ike Leggett is still supporting CASA and the illegal immigrant community, instead of the tax paying citizens. It is time to throw Ike Leggett out of office and demand that the Police Chief do his job in identifying these individuals.
Attitudes Shift on Illegal Residents Some Link Crime In Montgomery To Immigration By Dan Morse and Ann E. Marimow Washington Post Staff Writers Sunday, January 11, 2009; A01 For years, mainstream Montgomery County has been generally accepting of illegal immigrants, and county leaders followed suit, pledging not to enforce immigration laws even as police agencies elsewhere in the region began to do so. But public sentiment appears to be shifting in Montgomery, driven less by ideology than by alarm over rising crime and the recent slayings of a 14-year-old honor student on a county transit bus and a 63-year-old woman in her Bethesda home. "People who are very, very tolerant want to see some changes," said County Council member Marc Elrich (D-At Large), one of five council members who said in interviews that public opinion has shifted in recent months. Elrich said crime has "really hit home" even in his neighborhood of Takoma Park, a city that since 1985 has officially refused to identify or report undocumented immigrants. Mariana Cordier, who grew up in the county and is a past president of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association, said residents are increasingly linking crime to illegal immigration. "It's been slow to come to Montgomery County," she said of that perception, "but it has arrived." Police Chief J. Thomas Manger is developing a proposal to have county police officers check the immigration status of suspects arrested for violent crimes and weapons offenses. "I wouldn't have gone for it a year ago," Bethesda resident Judy Campbell said recently, leaving a natural food co-op in Takoma Park with soy milk and a slice of vegan double-chocolate fudge cake. "Until this series of violent crimes, it wasn't on my radar screen." Campbell, a 50-year-old nurse, is an avowed liberal. She thinks illegal immigrants deserve publicly funded health care. She once voted for Dennis Kucinich. And for the upcoming inauguration, she plans to participate in Chant4Change, an event that bills itself as a gathering for "conscious revolutionaries." -

Before President Bush leaves office, he is doing everything he can to snub the Border Patrol agents. He put two agents in jail while providing cover to a Mexican drug runner. Now the President has awarded a $61,200 bonus to Border Patrol Chief David V. Aguilar. Mr. Aguilar has not done a good job and has not protected his agents. He is the cause of the delays in a $20 million fence project and for an accelerated hiring program that auditors said threatens to reduce qualified field supervisors.
The chief also has been criticized by his own rank and file for not supporting two agents sent to prison for shooting a drug smuggler in the buttocks as he fled back to Mexico, and greeted with a unanimous "no confidence" vote by the union representing non-supervisory agents. The presidential merit award, equal to 35 percent of Chief Aguilar's $172,000 annual pay, is 1.7 times larger than the base starting salary of $36,658 for a Border Patrol agent. The bonus has angered many field agents, some of whom told the chief in a terse, unsigned letter that the agency has been damaged and field agents jeopardized by his "politically expedient decisions." The letter, a copy which was obtained by The Washington Times, challenged Chief Aguilar's job performance since his May 2004 appointment, saying there had "never been a time when our chief has been so out of touch with the field, or a time when our chief has become a politician and lost sight of his most important responsibility: to be an advocate for the agency and its mission." Jeffrey C. Robertson, assistant commissioner for public affairs at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which oversees the Border Patrol, acknowledged that the chief had received the letter but declined to comment publicly on what action, if any, had been taken on it. Mr. Robertson said, however, that decisions concerning the border fence project and the academy classes were made "corporately and ultimately" by CBP and the Department of Homeland Security, not Chief Aguilar, whom he described as a "zealous advocate" for the Border Patrol's front-line agents The agents' four-page letter focuses on two major topics: a virtual fence project along the Arizona-Mexico border that it called "ineffective and too costly," and changes at the Border Patrol Academy to meet a presidential mandate of hiring 6,000 more agents by the end of 2008. President Bush---pardon the two Border Patrol agents and stop being the "open-border" Commander in Chief. -

The Democrats cannot legally deny Mr. Burris the Illinois Senate seat. The Senate leaders are again playing politics and not doing what is according to law. They accuse President Bush of power-grabbing, but this is outrageous. Even though the Governor of Illinois is a thief and bum, he still has the right to appoint an individual to the US Senate.
The US Senate should be more concerned with voter fraud in MN and assist with a federal investigation on this matter. However, several US Senators want to seat the Democrat as soon as possible; thus, stealing the election. Even as Democrats celebrated expanded majorities in both houses, they were forced to block the Senate appointment of Roland W. Burris by scandal-plagued Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich, citing his failure to provide proper credentials. Mr. Burris, a former Illinois attorney general, beat a quick retreat rather than enflame controversy, and later received an endorsement from Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat and the outgoing chairman of the rules committee that will possibly decide his fate. Mrs. Feinstein said Mr. Blagojevich has the right to appoint Mr. Burris, even though Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has refused to sign off on Mr. Burris. Voters in Illinois would like a new election to fill the empty seat, but Mr. Burris has the legal right to be seated in the Senate. -

We are making progress in Montgomery County with illegal immigration--it is sad that recent murders have happened for the politicians to act. County Executive Leggett is responsible for the high murder and crime rate due to his "Open-Border" policy for illegal immigrants.
Montgomery Police Seek Tougher Line On Immigrant Status Detainees' Residency Would Be Checked In Cases Involving Weapons, Violence By Dan Morse Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, January 1, 2009; Page B01 Montgomery County police are seeking approval to ask suspects arrested for violent crimes and weapons offenses about their immigration status, an about-face in a county whose leaders for years declined to do so even as police agencies elsewhere in the region began aggressive efforts to identify illegal immigrants. The proposal, developed by Chief J. Thomas Manger and his senior staff, comes after two alleged illegal immigrants were charged in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old honor student on a county transit bus and after another alleged illegal immigrant was charged in a string of home invasions and the slaying of a 63-year-old Bethesda resident in her home. "All public officials have been receiving questions from citizens who are asking, 'Why are persons who are in the country illegally or unlawfully allowed to remain?' " said Wayne M. Jerman, an assistant police chief. Jerman said the policy is not ideologically driven. Rather, he said, police officials see immigration violations as another tool to get dangerous criminals off the streets. The proposal will not go into effect without the approval of County Executive Isiah Leggett, who once angrily told a crowd that the county is "not in the business of enforcing immigration issues." Through a spokesman, Leggett declined to comment. It is unclear when he will make a decision. Del. Ana Sol Gutierrez (D-Montgomery) said she and other immigrant advocates have met with Leggett to convey their opposition to the policy change. She said it could lead to racial profiling and constitutional violations. -
