Frederick County Sheriff's Office has had 26 of their officers trained under the DHS 287g program. Congrats to them on this training. The sheriff believes in protecting legal citizens and upholding the law by arresting illegal immigrants who have broken our laws.
Why should CASA of Maryland sue the Frederick County Sheriff over his office receiving 287g training? Why won't CASA release their records on the local companies that use the Day Labor Centers for employees or release the names of all of the illegals they serve? We fully support the sheriff in his efforts to protect the citizens of Frederick County. Recently, there have been a rash of murders, house and car break-ins, and criminal activities from illegal immigrants in Montgomery County, Prince Georges County and DC. What will it take for local law enforcement agencies to protect its citizens and have these police agencies under take the 287g training? Elections do mean something and the election of so many liberal Democrats has created a "safe haven" for illegals in our area. Since CASA is so concerned about racial profiling and protecting the public---I am demanding that CASA open their records. The Maryland government, Montgomery County officials, and CASA try to hide behind each other while protecting their turf of shielding illegal immigrants. It is time for the public to demand that our elected officials stop funding CASA and start arresting any illegal immigrant in our communities. -

Thanksgiving is uniquely an American holiday.
More than any other holiday, Thanksgiving builds on our history, from a time before we began building our nation. When pilgrims and settlers set forth for the New World, they were inspired and motivated by hopes and dreams, some material and many spiritual. Today, we have dreams of our economy getting better, our combat troops returning home, our government remaining strong against terrorists, and our families being safe. With the Islamic terrorist attack in Mumbai, India, we know our world and our American values are at risk. When the terrorists attack our allies, we are attacked. They want to disrupt our financial markets, our free market values, our individual freedoms, and our choice of religious freedoms. We have a lot to be thankful for in the United States--our families, our individual freedoms, our democracy, our financial opportunities, and our religious decisions. We should all thank our military members for their sacrifices and their dedication to our national freedoms and goals. May God bless everyone this holiday season---especially our President who has kept us safe since 2001. -

Why is President-Elect Obama selecting Senator Hillary Clinton for Secretary of the Department of State? Doesn't she have more power and a longer political career as a US Senator form New York? She safely has this senate seat as long as she wants it and can spend the rest of of her life as a US Senator.
What would motivate her to switch her "safe seat" and political career to a position where she serves at the pleasure of the President and can be fired at any time for any reason? Is she just tired of living in NY and of being in the senate? I do not think so. Hillary Clinton has her political sights on a higher office and sees the opportunity to create a bond with Obama for the near term. Yes, that means that she wants to be the future Presidential candidate for the Democrat Party. The strategy is that she will serve as Secretary of State for four years. Vice President Biden will only serve for four years and be given the boot. She will then run with President Obama in four years. Then after being Vice President for four years, she will then run for President in eight years. This is the plan. If President-Elect Obama has a good four years, then Hillary thinks that she will have the best chance to become President by being his Vice President. This combination in four years will be hard to beat if the Democrats do well over the next four years. However, this will be a real challenge due to the fact that Obama and the current Congress are very liberal and will try to implement their liberal agenda. Hillary Clinton is making a strategic move to become President in eight years. -

The border fence between Mexico and the United States works. With a fence, Mexican drivers cannot drive drugs or humans across the border. Also, a fence creates an obstacle for illegals who want to walk across the border. We have to shut down the multi-billion drug and human trafficking market.
Apprehensions in 2008 decreased by approximately 67 percent along the New Mexico border, due in large part to fencing construction and the acquisition of other resources in southern Luna County. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is doing a better job of protecting our borders. Now, we need Congress to stop funding illegal immigrant programs, stop giving driver licenses to illegals, and start enforcing our laws that will force illegals out of our country. -

Below is a good article detailing how Congress and Ex-President Bill Clinton started the financial mess that we are now experiencing due to the CRA,Freddie, and Fannie.
Two months ago, I noted how a September 1999 article in the Los Angeles Times praising the Clinton administration’s enforcement efforts of the Community Reinvestment Act inadvertently showed how they created the housing bubble by praising all of the excesses of the White House and Congress. King Banaian pointed out a City Journal article from the following year that took a much-less complimentary look at the CRA and government use of it — and predicted almost exactly what would follow eight years later. In fact, it also predicted the scope of the collapse: The Clinton administration has turned the Community Reinvestment Act, a once-obscure and lightly enforced banking regulation law, into one of the most powerful mandates shaping American cities—and, as Senate Banking Committee chairman Phil Gramm memorably put it, a vast extortion scheme against the nation’s banks. Under its provisions, U.S. banks have committed nearly $1 trillion for inner-city and low-income mortgages and real estate development projects, most of it funneled through a nationwide network of left-wing community groups, intent, in some cases, on teaching their low-income clients that the financial system is their enemy and, implicitly, that government, rather than their own striving, is the key to their well-being. -

WHITE GUILT IS DEAD Free at last, free at last! Below is an article by by Tom Adkins on the end of racism in the United States. Look at my fellow conservatives! There they go, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I'm virtually euphoric. Don't get me wrong. I'm not thrilled with America's flirtation with neo-socialism. But there's a massive silver lining in those magical clouds that lofted Barack Obama to the Presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America: The Era of White Guilt is over. -

The auto bailout by the Democrats is a “pay-back” for the unions. For example, GM has 150,000 workers supporting 650,000 retirees. This is the same problem with the Social Security System—too few supporting too many.
Half of the $50 billion the auto industry wants is for health care for its current and retired employees. The cost of health care and retired benefits, along with increased union wages account for $1,600 per vehicle. This cost has to be passed on to the consumer. -

Today we must remember all those who have served our nation and have died for our freedoms. Our military members today are just as dedicated and brave as those who served in all conflicts throughout our history.
As a retired US Army officer, I salute all of my military bothers and sisters. President Bush thanked veterans for serving their country, noting that he'll "miss being commander in chief of such a fabulous group." We need to thank all veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and protection of freedom. All service member families must be honored for their steadfast support of their family members who serve in the Armed Services. Family members who are left behind and are not on the battle line are doing their part to support our nation. They sacrifice as much as the military members who are in combat. All Americans should be pround of our military and the freedoms that are quaranteed because of our military. May God bless our military and our nation. -

Reading the October 31, Gazette article entitled, “Critics decry immigrant detention” has left me stunned that an elected official in Maryland would pressure Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger not to do his job and enforce the law. Then again I am not surprised, since that official is Del. Ana Sol Gutierrez (D-Dist. 18) of Chevy Chase. Gutierrez has a long record of supporting illegal immigrants and “open borders”, despite her own legal entry into the United States from her native El Salvador many years ago.
We need a clear message to illegal immigrants—we find you, we detain you, you get charged with a crime and then you are deported. -
