Former Delaware Governor Pete du Pont had an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal yesterday arguing Obama will most likely be our most liberal public policy president since FDR.
So where is the new Obama administration likely to take us? Seven things seem certain, says du Pont: 1) The U.S. military will withdraw from Iraq quickly and substantially, regardless of conditions on the ground or how it will embolden terrorists 2) Protectionism will become our national trade policy 3) Income taxes will rise on middle- and upper-income people and businesses and wealth will, indeed, be spread around 4) Federal government spending will substantially increase 5) Federal regulation of the economy will expand, on everything from financial management companies to electricity generation and personal energy use 6) The power of labor unions will substantially increase, through passage of card check legislation 7) Free speech will be curtailed through the reimposition of the Fairness Doctrine In short, says du Pont, it will be the beginning of the Europeanization of America. -

Montgomery County is a safe-haven for illegal immigrants and are protected by Ike Leggett and the County Council. They protect CASA of Maryland, an organization that openly welcomes, protects, and promotes illegal immigration. This group also is hired by the Democrats for VOTER REGISTRATION. When will the citizens of Montgomery County demand that elected officials protect them from illegals? Police say the suspect killed his most recent victim, Mary Frances Havenstein, 63, of Bethesda. Montgomery County Police on Friday charged Jose Garcia-Perlera, 33, of the 5800 block of 32nd Avenue, with one count of first-degree murder in Havenstein' s death. She was the only homicide in a series of five home invasions across the downcounty over the past year that targeted elderly victims, police said. Garcia-Perlera, reportedly an illegal immigrant who told police he was a self-employed electrician, was also charged with four counts of robbery and one count of armed robbery for the five home invasion robberies. He faced similar burglary charges in New York eight years ago, police said. -

1. Why is Obama good for the economy? Obama and his liberal Democrat friends are BAD for the economy and are NOT business-friendly. They want to punish businesses and successful Americans so they can “spread the wealth”. Obama is supported by trial lawyers and unions—enemies of business and the free market. It is the fault of reckless elected Democrats who modified the business policies so people who were not qualified got loans. -

Democrats in Maryland fund CASA of Maryland to register illegal immigrants to vote and support them. They are just like ACORN. These liberal get-out-the-vote organizations are a threat to our democracy and our free-market system. The US Department of Justice must form a special unit to go after these organizations. Why do Democrats and black or Hispanic elected officials vote against a picture ID requirement to vote? Why do they not want proper documents verifying the person is who they say they are? Why do they want liberal voting laws and procedures?

Senator John McCain and all Americans should be questioning Obama about his friendships and business relationships. With friends like Bill Ayers and others from Chicago, he would never get a security clearance as a government employee. Why should we hand over the keys to the White House to this guy?
Senator John McCain challenged his Democratic presidential opponent Sen. Barack Obama's honor and honesty and must focus on Obama's character. "My opponent's touchiness every time he is questioned about his record should make us only more concerned," Mr. McCain said in New Mexico, suggesting that Mr. Obama was hiding something. "It's as if somehow the usual rules don't apply, and where other candidates have to explain themselves and their records, Senator Obama seems to think he is above all that." As a GS employee, he could not even get a security clearance. -

Again, federal and local law enforcement agencies understand that illegal immigration equals gangs and a high crime rate. Since 2005, ICE has arrested more than 8,000 immigrant gangsters from more than 700 different gangs under an initiative known as Operation Community Shield. States like Maryland and counties like Montgomery County that "welcome" illegal immigrants have seen a big increase in gangs and crime. Local law enforcement agencies that shun involvement with immigration law enforcement are missing an opportunity to protect their communities. Every law-abiding citizen should be in revolt and demanding that these elected politicians be removed from office. This is a "National Crisis" and must be addressed. -

Senator McCain must oppose the Senate Bailout Bill and come up with a new plan that the House Republicans can pass. In the current form, the Senate Bill is grand larceny of the bank accounts of Americans. If Senator McCain wants to win the Presidential election, he must expose the "pork" and be a leader on this issue. All businessmen are against this bill. All taxpayers are against this bill. Put the money in the market for "liquidity", but do not bail out the executives who made the bad decisions. Senator McCain--wake up, be forceful and lead on this issue. You are not running for the Senate where you have to get along--you are running for President where you have to lead. -

I am opposed to a "bailout" of Congressional responsibility for the economic mess that we are now experiencing. We need to ensure the market has the money to loan "qualified" borrowers, not the politically correct who cannot pay back their loans.
We need confidence in the ability of the political process to produce a rational, bold response that lets the market correct itself. Let's start by unwinding the many government mistakes that created the housing bubble, repealing the various laws and regulations specifically designed to put people into homes that they could not afford. Let's scrap the Community Reinvestment Act, break up Fannie and Freddie, and put the pieces back in the private sector. If "liquidity" and the availability of capital is the immediate problem, let's repeal the tax on capital gains and other tax provisions that punish savings and capital accumulation. The Flat Tax does all of this in one fell swoop. And, finally, let's repeal the various distortions in corporate accounting policies like Sarbanes-Oxley. -
